Not unlike, “Band of Brothers” We follow a select few soldiers from their escape from slavery, to joining the Union forces, and their exploits during the war.
Using interviews with historians, animated battles, recreations of their personal experiences, cultural commentators, and descendents we examine not only the astounding history and bravery of the men of the First South, but also their enduring impact on America and what they can teach us about ourselves and our future.
